Sometimes I forget about what got me here in the first place
All my attention is typically dead seat on anything meant to bring me down
I get hung up on the negative feedback as if the positive has no weight
This mind of mine may be a bit unbalanced and despondent at times
But if I can manage to embrace the damage I'll be one step closer to where I wanna be
My eyes adjust to see what's been right there in front of me this whole time
Distractions fade to black as I focus my vision to forget what I won't miss
You can't expect to reach your goals without running into some obstacles along the way
It really is just a matter of time before they try and discourage you
So sing louder than before
No doubter can ignore this talent that's in store
The path ahead of me is full of traps and bends as far as I can see
At least I have a read on what to expect and avoid to reach my destination

Whenever it feels like the world is turning just to shut you down, you'll need to accept that you're thinking irrationally
Thoughts like that are fabricated by your own mind as a cop out
'Cause every time that you label your failures as a sign from a greater power saying "you weren't meant to succeed", you're robbing yourself the chance of achieving what you had initially planned to
With this mentality, you're only bound to fail
It's time for a head change

If all it took to advance in life was talking of every plan that you'd like to achieve without even making an effort to do so, then everyone would never want or need to try
Nothing ventured, nothing lost but a will to fight
And I'm so thankful that things aren't like that

I'm the king of excuses; prone to being reclusive
But I've learned how to make my way through this
I'm driven by failures and a hunger for greater things
With that being said, I've got too much on my plate and my head to let out so soon
I'll transpose these emotions into melodies chosen to reflect my drive

If and when from there you keep up the routine you'll be moving in the right direction
A week, a month, and a year have gone by
